My Favorite Things

I'm so excited to let you know that I have worked this past week with Molly, of My Favorite Things on her re-design! I was honored to be chosen as her designer and we worked fast and quick this week to get the re-design up and running!

Molly and Danyelle had envisioned a clean, classic, simple design with colors that are timeless yet modern. Concentrating on the theme of Favorite Things the header portrays a smartly adorable girl in a classic white dress and blue sash, which is so appropriate and entirely cute! I learned a lot more about blog customizations while working on this project and am happy to offer these additional options to anyone out there needing a good blog makeover!

Please take a look at the new design and leave them a comment. Because if you do, you could be the winner of your OWN custom blog design, The Whole Shebang, a $75 value!

Thanks again, to My Favorite Things for letting me be a part of this amazing project!

Skillwidden Re-designed

Skillywidden has once again become public and that meant a new, fresh design! Kelli has great style and a really eclectic taste so we went with this really cool blog layout and a really fun header. I think it turned out perfect! Check back at her blog in the next few days for the most final layout!

McScary Family

My sister Mandie has "commissioned" me to do a series of blog designs for her. We've gone back and forth about how to best present her blog. She hasn't been happy with it and after a few tries she had a great idea — do 6 different headers that will change seasonally! It's going to be so fun. We finished up the first of the six and I think it turned out so cute and spooky! Click on the header to see the full blog. My sister is great at always challenging me to do new and better things so I'm excited to get started on the rest of them!

Intimate Baby Shower Dinner

My good friend Kelli is expecting her third boy in late October. We are excited to have a small intimate dinner with close family and a few friends to celebrate his arrival. I made this cute invite and will be sending them out this week!

Another Day, Another Blog Design!

For some reason I've had a lot of blogs to work on lately and it's been fun. I was excited to find out from Liz that she google'd blog header design and found my blog! For all you LDS gals out there this is also a great resource for FHE ideas! We kept it simple (shocking, right??) but it turned out so cute and clean! Thanks, Liz!

Preggy Weggy

I've been focusing a lot of my time lately on the photography side of my business which has been a lot of fun. But I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this other blog I designed for Kristen (see her other blog below!) It took a long time for me to finally get the time to down to work on it and it's been up for a few weeks now, just in time for her baby to come in September! We're throwing around the idea of updating it to a baby blog as soon as her little boy is born! I think it turned out really simply cute!

Kristen & Rob

My very first Etsy shop sell was from a cool girl named Kristen from Utah. Unfortunately, Etsy is pretty strict about "graphic design" listings and notified me that I needed to modify my post or take it down. I'm really happy that Kristen got her purchase in before I even had to modify it! Anyway. Kristen and her hubby Rob are a fun, adventurous couple who love Hawaii and the outdoors. So I went with a pretty funky look to their header and their pics and everything came out so great! I especially loved their tag line "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!" Sounds like a line right out of my own life! I also modified the look of the rest of their blog to match since that's the easy part. Check out her header below and the complete look of her blog as well! Thanks, Kristen! You'll always have a special place in my designer heart. :)

Butler Family Photography

I had the pleasure of working with Marchet (pronounced Mar-Shay) over at Butler Family Photography who was my second contest winner! She was so great to work with and knew exactly what she wanted—which always makes things a little easier on me! Her blog is now updated and it looks wonderful! We went for simple, bold colors and slightly modern. I love how the header and the rest of the blog are streamlined together. Take a minute and stop by her blog and look at her great photos as well!

Katie's Wedding Invitations

I worked with this really awesome girl when I was with D magazine named Katie. She was wonderful enough to let me do the invitations for her upcoming May wedding. And I have to say, it was so much fun. It seems like with each invite I do, the most recent one is always my favorite. And Katie's is no exception! She knew exactly what she wanted and I was able to find paper that matched her bridesmaid's dresses perfectly. I'm so excited to show them off to you here! They were perfectly customized to Katie's theme and her and Seth's personality. I know they loved them and so do I!

These invites were 6.25"x6.25" and for the green overlay we used 80# Mohawk Via Felt Sage. For the inside cards (which included a save-the-date which was mailed out separately, the main invite card and a postcard response card) we used 100# Neenah Classic Crest in Classic Natural. Katie and Seth did the monogram stamp on the front which was the perfect finishing touch! Here are some highlights:

WE HAVE A WINNER!

To make this as fair as I could I used a cool name picker made for schools. I even have screen caps to show you the winning picked names! So ladies and gentlemen, drum roll please.... The winner of the first ever designs by missy giveaway is.....

Bobette Davis! Congrats, Bobette!!

And because I was feeling extra generous this morning after my wonderful husband rescued me from my broken down car and my mother generously let me drive her truck today, I decided to pick TWO winners!

So my second contest winner is Marchet Butler! Congrats!

If you two wonderful ladies would send me an email as soon as you can I'll send you a list of questions to get to know your style and the look you want for your blogs. Congratulations! To everyone else, I'll be having another drawing in the near future so keep looking back for the winners' designs and another contest. You are all awesome!

Time's Almost Up!

Contest ends tonight at 9pm CST and one winner will immediately be chosen using the random name generator provided at ClassTools.net. I figured since I work in the education system this is perfect. And it's completely random! Good luck everyone and hurry and get in your last minute entries!

A Header in Progress

I'm doing a blog theme for CQT and wanted to show you all what I have so far. I wanted to add some more elements to it but kind of like the simplicity. I love the cutout pics though. Hopefully I'll be able to do more headers with cutouts because they just add so much dimension and fun! Let me know what you guys think! And don't forget to enter my giveaway!

More Header Examples

I did a few for Shannon before she decided on the look she liked best. I was also experimenting with some scrapbook kits I had downloaded and I think these turned out totally cute. I also tried changing up the kits to different colors so that they stand out from people who use those same kits. It's really my goal to design headers for everyone that don't look like all of the other ones out there! So keep that in mind if you want a specific kit used to design your header. The color possibilities are nearly endless!

My Third Post of the Day—A GIVEAWAY!

I know, I'm jumping on the giveaway bandwagon. But really I'm just trying to get some momentum going for this site and for my hopefully future blog design/web/design business! So if you would like a custom header, leave a comment with the following:

Your Name
Email Address
Blog Address

Just like that! This contest is open to anyone and everyone. Any bloggers out there who'd like a new look go ahead and do it! Family and friends qualify too! The contest will run until Thursday at 9pm CST and one winner will be chosen at random and will receive one custom blog header and customization of your template to match if you wish! I will announce the winner on Friday morning. Good luck!

I will have more giveaways in the future so please keep looking back in! I will also be doing a huge before/after when the school district site redesign I am working on is finished! I will put up a post on my main blog when that happens!

One that didn't make it

I did a few blog headers for one of my sisters after downloading a ton of free digital scrapbook kits. I really don't think digital scrapbooking is my thing, so I'm staying with a cleaner more modern and illustrative look. I thought I'd give you an idea of what one of those looked like. If you'd like a look like this, though, I can definitely do it!

Life With These Three Kids

After doing Skillywidden, a friend of mine wanted a similar look. So I created this fun blue/brown/beige scheme for her which included photos her her cute kids. It's fun and swirly and when is swirly not fun?

Baby Shower Invitation

My niece is having a baby in June making me a GREAT AUNT for the THIRD time (not to mention another niece of mine is having baby #2 later this summer as well!) Come on girls, you're making me feel old! And both of you are older than me! haha Not by much though. :) This is the invite I am doing for Texas' baby shower. Yes, her name is Texas and she is awesome. They picked out a cute jungle theme for his nursery so I found a cute illustration I liked and created my own version of it. The main invite will be printed on white cardstock then adhered to a red textured cardstock backing and I'll round the corners of both. We can't wait for little Carson to arrive!

Keeping Up With the Heatons

I recently did this header and blog theme for a good friend of mine. (Be sure to check out her two adorable kiddos!) She's totally fun and now the colors and look of blog definitely reflect that!

The second blog header...

The second one I officially did (and I say "officially" because I refuse to talk about the pickiness of a sister of mine who could not make up her mind on her blog header) was for Skillywidden. I had so much fun with this header because I know the blog author well and had exactly in my mind what I wanted to do. The result was perfect (if I do say so myself!) From the owl to the silhouettes of her beautiful boys to the homage to Coke, it's great. I am glad she loves it! Click image for the full view.

Sarah Smiles

The first person to ever ask me to design a blog header for them was for my friend Sarah. She wanted something simple and already had a background picked out which made it super easy to do hers. It turned out so cute.

Welcome to Designs by Missy!
